Crowfeather's Son</u>
Before he was Breezepaw…

Note: Most of the following was written by the real Erin Hunter, (in the form of a play)!

Brambleclaw, the ThunderClan deputy, was the first to come forward. “Leafpool!” he cried, seeing Crowfeather on the other side of the stream. “Are you okay?”

Leafpool twitched her ears, obviously irritated. “Yes, I’m fine.”

Cloudtail spotted Crowfeather and hissed, “What are you doing here? Doesn’t WindClan have enough warriors to send out on proper patrols?”

Crowfeather stiffened. “Of course we do!”

Berrypaw, the young apprentice with them, mewed curiously, “What are you doing out here on your own?”

Crowfeather flicked his ears. “Onestar doesn’t keep us prisoner in the camp!”

Leafpool looked tired. She flicked her tail dismissively at the WindClan warrior. “Just go, Crowfeather.”

Cloudtail looked suspicious. “So you two just happened to meet here, did you?” he growled.

“That’s right,” Crowfeather answered. Well, actually, it wasn’t true;
Leafpool had wanted to meet him here. And now she might even get him in trouble with Onestar! He felt angry and was about to leave when Berrypaw mewed:

“I remember you! You went away with Leafpool just before the badger attack.” He looked a little puzzled as he added, “But then you came back…”

Brambleclaw looked uncomfortable. He shot a look at his apprentice and hissed, “That was a long time ago, Berrypaw. We don’t need to talk about it now.”

Leafpool looked at Crowfeather and murmured, “No. We don’t need to talk about anything.”

Crowfeather was hurt. What did she have to say that could be so important? He wished he hadn’t blown her off so soon.

Cloudtail glared at him. “Has Crowfeather been bothering you?” he asked Leafpool. The medicine cat shook her head hastily.

“No, it’s nothing like that.”

Crowfeather felt a stab of longing. “At least your Clanmates trust you!” he growled.

Suddenly, from behind him, he heard pawsteps. It must be the patrol! he thought desperately. Sure enough, Onestar, Tornear, and Harepaw bounded up to them, looking anxious.

Onestar spotted Brambleclaw and dipped his head respectfully. “Greetings, Brambleclaw. Is there a problem?”

Brambleclaw twitched his ears at Crowfeather. “One of your warriors has been trying to talk to Leafpool.” He shot the WindClan leader a meaningful look.

Crowfeather felt exasperated. “Oh for StarClan’s sake!” he cried. “I just…”

“I see one of our warriors and two of yours, plus an apprentice,” Tornear said in a low growl. “Do you call that a fair fight?”

Cloudtail’s ears flattened. “There was no talk of fighting until you showed up, Tornear, but if that’s what you want…” He bunched his muscles and lashed his tail eagerly.

Crowfeather began to bristle. He curled his lip, ready to defend his Clanmates. How dare Cloudtail imply that Tornear was picking a fight? ThunderClan cats always had to be in charge of everything!

“Yeah!” Berrypaw added eagerly. “I may only be an apprentice, but I can fight as well as any ThunderClan warrior!”

Harepaw smirked. “Well, if you only fight as well as a ThunderClan cat, you’re nothing to be scared of,” he mewed scornfully. Crowfeather felt a flicker of pride at the apprentice’s courage; if he was Brambleclaw, he would have ripped out Harepaw’s throat by now.

Berrypaw’s fur stood on end; he looked twice his size. “Come here and say that! I’ll scratch your ears off, you piece of fox-dung!”

Before he could launch himself at the WindClan apprentice, Brambleclaw stepped in. “There’s no need to fight, Berrypaw,” he said softly. “Can’t you see they’re just mocking you?”

“What’s the matter, Brambleclaw?” scoffed Tornear, “Worried my apprentice would shred the fur off yours? Or do you think we wouldn’t actually fight? WindClan aren’t your cosy allies any more, not now Tallstar is dead. We’re as strong as any of the Clans now, and I think it’s time you found that out for yourselves!”

Cloudtail took a step forward menacingly. “Every cat knows that the only reason WindClan runs so fast is because they keep running away!” he taunted.

Crowfeather let out a low growl, but luckily, Onestar interfered:

“Brambleclaw, it looks as if your Clanmates are desperate for a fight. Aren’t you going to control them?”

Brambleclaw glared at the WindClan leader. “I don’t see why I should, if you let your warriors insult them!”

This is part six of the Crowfeather's Son Mini Series. YAY! ^.^

Hope you love it. This fills in what happened after Warriors: Sunset. This part is based on Erin Hunter's After Sunset: We Need To Talk play. It's after Leafpool hears Crowfeather's big news about the kits, and is about to turn and leave when her Clanmates arrive...

(As you know, these characters and setting are not mine. They're Erin Hunter's, with the exception of Dovekit/paw and Shadekit.)

A hint of what's to come...

Onestar bristled. He held the ThunderClan deputy’s gaze furiously...
Crowfeather glanced at Leafpool. “Oh yes, ThunderClan cats always do what the warrior code tells them to.”
Cloudtail growled, “He came onto our territory to kill Firestar!"

Is the tension growing? Will a battle finally result? Find out in Crowfeather's Son Part 7!
